Distance: 11.5km

Elevation gain: 519m

Time required: 3-4 hours

Tunnel Bluffs is a very popular rock bluff in Lions Bay on the North Shore. It used to have its own trail that started just off of the Sea to Sky highway at Tunnel Point. However, as you needed to cross the highway to reach the trailhead, it was deemed too dangerous and there are 30-minute parking restrictions in place now.

The new trailhead is at Lions Bay. It's the same starting place as other popular hikes such as The Lions and Brunswick Mountain. There is a tiny, paid parking lot at the trail head in Lions Bay but it is almost always full. Thankfully, there is a larger, free parking lot 500m down the road near the elementary school.

The first few kilometres on the wide FSR are a steady incline. Eventually, you reach a junction that points to Tunnel Bluffs in one direction and Brunswick Mountain in the other. Make sure to take the right turn-off. With most of the elevation gain behind you, it's a fairly flat hike to the lookout. It only took me 1.5 hours total.
